Get The TechniqueHello and thanks for reading our blog. I thought I'd share some of the crafting I do on the side.
I've been making jewelry since I was a kid, when my proud mom and her kind friends were my best (well, only) customers. Years later I started making oversized necklaces out of crepe paper flowers as an attempt to design an accessory for my wedding dress.
That got me taken with making jewelry from non-traditional materials. I experimented with pom-poms, Tyvek, plastic shopping bags, and more. When my now six-year-old son was a baby, we were playing with his big wooden lacing beads and I was inspired to start mixing those with vintage wooden beads on gold chains. Sometimes I’ll mix them with handmade felt flowers and leaves. I also love using these metallic vintage fabric pinwheels that Tinsel Trading used to sell.
After years of only getting it together to sell at the (amazing) annual Holiday crafts fair organized by Marcie and Laura Normandin and our (also amazing) employee craft sale, I thought I might try to finally put something in my Etsy shop.
When I wear these necklaces my sons like to play with them…and then I can sneak in a few extra snuggles. Next I’ll have to figure out how to work in the Legos and Star Wars guys that are slowly replacing the baby toys!

What a fun style! I especially like the red wooden beads with the felt flowers and leaves. The 'softness' of the felt and the 'harness' of the beads are a great combination! You may want to consider adding some handmade polymer clay beads in with your mix. Very cool things could come of that!

The jewelry designs are unique! I know I won't find them anywhere else until of course, they are copied....and yes, they will be!
I wear my beads, cloth flowers, and my stunning and very flashy gold and fuscia flowers necklaces as evening wear and going out to lunch wear!!!! I get nothing but compliments!
I'm so conservative in my dress and jewelry, but when I wear these unique necklaces, I get an amazing amount of attention! And that's very nice!
