Last week I stopped by Gallery Hanahou for the opening of "Before and After," a show by Ossu! Shugeibu, the "macho" Japanese crafting club. The gallery was packed, and the evening was a lot of fun. There was even an impromptu group crafting project!

All of the work is created from ordinary objects transformed into new creations with a sense of humor. In addition to the finished pieces, the raw ingredients were on display. The taped on arrows showing process were a quirky addition ensuring nothing felt too precious.

I liked seeing so many variations on the same theme.

Later in the week, the gallery hosted two workshops on robogurumi, a handmade robotic toy. I couldn't make it, but it looks like it was a success.
