The first time I ever entered Tinsel Trading Company, it was a random day when I walked by the window. Then, on a block full of ribbon stores, it was the only window that drew me in. I am not sure what year that was, but it was before I started working for Martha. When I did start freelancing at Martha and was sent out frequently for shopping, Tinsel Trading was always a highlight and an inspiration. Now in a new location at 1 West 37th, but still in the heart of the trim district, it remains an absolute stop I make when in the area.

A place to ignite the imagination with ribbons, velvet flowers, vintage trims, bins to poke around in, as well as festive decorations, the store should not be missed when visiting New York City. Especially during the holidays when the sparkle goes up a notch. Below are some photos to pique your interest. Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this post! I've been living in NYC for almost 5 years, and I am finally learning where the good fabric/craft stores are. More features would be fantastic!
I will definitely be taking my mom to this store on her next visit.

Thank you for posting this! I've been drooling over the Tinsel Trading website, I wish Portland had a store like this. I've never been to NYC but could spend one visit in the garment/trim districts alone!

Seeing this store makes me sad that I'm not allowed to have ribbon in the house... six cats + ribbon = don't even go there.
