As my boys get older, it seems they don't want anything to do with things that say 'cute', 'sweet', 'mine' or 'yours', and especially 'love' (yuck !) .... in a few years that will probably come back (for a specific person, rather than the whole class), but for now Valentine's Day has gotten to be a bit sensitive and needs to fit into the cool category. So I ordered a bunch of rock candy, packaged it into little cello bags, printed the text onto white cover stock and attached it with red staples.

They're happy with their Valentines .... and I still think they're pretty sweet (both my boys and the treats).

For those of us who will be traveling on Valentine's Day and won't be home to give treats, there's a great way to send virtual Valentines at http://godiva.bit.ly/67s3PV . I'm a working Mom and am supporting this promotion so we can all share the love!

So simple, yet very clever! My son will love making these for his friends (especially since it avoids all the icky "love" stuff).
