My friend Angie started a project in April and I thought it was so much fun I wanted to share it. She decided to make a series of small samplers and crochet a word a day for an entire year! In order to give the project some focus she has limited the words to British Slang. Perhaps a bit nostalgic for her homeland, she believes that these words help keep her connected. She has been living in the U.S. for quite some time but she still regularly uses many of the words. They can be quite humorous and she feels they are sometimes the most effective.
The month of April was all about emotions "the way you make me feel" and May is dedicated to "Brit Nosh". Have a look at the words and then feel free to e-mail her at angelaspencerdesign@gmail.com with your favorite British word - you never know, it might end up being a crochet word of the day. When she is not madly crocheting the British slang dictionary, Angie keeps busy making other beautiful crafty items.

What a fun idea! Brit slang is some of the best ... there's such appeal in "foreign" words and phrases, from verbal slang to swear words, which must be why non-native users love them so much as conversation spice.

What a wonderful project! Did "fish and chips" make it?

Such a neat idea! I can't imagine all that daily crocheting, but I like the use of foreign slang in the craft project. In fact, I could see doing something similar with a scrapbook.
I have a friend in England I chat with regularly and every now and then I have to ask him what he means by a certain phrase. He actually grew up speaking Cockney rhyming slang and can throw a string of words at me that have me in stitches in no time.
Thanks for the ideas!
