I couldn't figure out if I should file this post under 'Inspiration Board' or 'Our Sources,' as the store Matta truly is both—a source of inspiration. We go there to borrow clothes as props for our shoots (most recently in the story 'A New Twist' in the August issue of Martha Stewart Living ) and leave with those PLUS lots of inspiration. The store is full of beautiful items from clothing to housewares, and the presentation is so colorful and unique that it makes me smile every time. I've known the owner Cristina Gitti for a l o n g time. Back then Cristina sold beautiful Pashminas and sarongs (which I live in during the summer !) . . . and look what the business has grown into since then. She has successfully merged her Italian roots with Indian colors and a New York sense of style. Matta is also a favorite of our editors . . . any given day in the office you'll see people wearing Matta clothes and looking very happy and beautiful in them. Matta sells in many special stores around the country, as well as their own stores and online. Take a look and have all of it make you smile, too.

I love love love Matta! I was lucky enough to get a beautiful hand printed wool shawl and fabulous tote at their sample sale a couple of years ago, and dream of owning at least one of their beautiful dupattas at some point in my life. Until then, I have fun spotting them in the pages of MSL and visiting them at their shop in ABC Home.
