Behind the Scenes : The October Living Cover

Posted by

Anyone who subscribes to Living may have noticed that there are TWO October covers: one that is sent to our subscribers, and one that is on newsstands. Those two covers were painstakingly chosen from several options—we want only the best for our readers. Here is a behind-the-scenes peek at the process of our October cover shoot, including the carving of an eleven-month-old pumpkin!

  • I love the pumpkins with their spooky but charming faces -- friendly, fearsome, and silly fun! The owl and white pumpkin designs are incredible in detail.

  • Wow!!! I actually really like the dark cover with the owl :D

  • I love the cover of the 4 happy pumpkins!

  • Both are great, but I am drawn to the darker one, too. I guess that makes it a great choice for the newsstands!

  • Love the behind the scenes posts keep them coming. I really like the owl pumpkin cover and the little pumpkins the best. Not crazy about the one I got in the mail it looks like a past cover image.

  • Interesting behind the scenes look. The owl is so cool!

  • I always felt Halloween was mostly for children so enjoyed the 4 Happy Pumpkins smiling for the kids!

  • Of the two published covers I prefer the newsstand version 100%. I agree that my subscriber cover looks very similar to other previous covers. I would have loved to get an issue with the owl-decorated pumpkin the most!

  • I subscribe, and while the subscriber one is pretty, I like the newstand one better!
