Sometimes it’s the simplest projects that bring me great joy. And really, who doesn’t love a good googly eye project?
So when I made these bangles for a fun Halloween idea for Martha to do on the show, I couldn’t stop smiling, and thinking of other accessories that could be covered with a bunch of eyes.

And heels on shoes seemed to be the next perfect item to get covered!

So run to the crafts store and pick up some packs of eyes, and a tube of E6000 glue.
When I set up to work, I like to spread out a bunch of eyes on a surface (eye up), so it’s easy to pick them up while I work.
I cover 1-inch sections at a time with the glue, and then use a tool that I call the “grabber,” a bamboo skewer with beeswax on the end. This makes it easy to pick up the eyes, and not get glue all over your fingers. Keep working in sections until completely covered. Sometimes the wax leaves a little mark, so once the whole piece is covered, and dry, just wipe with a soft cloth. And voilà! Now you have a great new accessory that I think can be been worn well beyond Halloween.
The fun with googly eyes didn’t stop with accessories though. Stylist Kait Taylor brought these guys to life for set décor. I loved these guys so much I had to do a little photo shoot with them.

LOL. Fabulous! I think the wedges are my fave--but don't they make you feel like someone is always watching you?
