In celebration—and gratitude!—of the recent lovely weather, we want to kick off your spring/summer entertaining season with an easy lighting idea from June's Good Things:
These flower beauties are a breeze to make: Just a basic lantern, tissue paper circles, double-sided tape, and you're all set.
Don't believe us? We'll prove it:
The petals flutter so perfectly when the lanterns are hung, and you could even put a light bulb in it to achieve that midsummer glow.
* Tip: You may find it easier to rest the lantern upside down before you start sticking the circles from the bottom up.

Do they still collapse after the tissue paper is on or do they get messed up? About how long did it take you to tape them all on? My son's birthday party is 2 hours away and I am planning on one evening and one morning to decorate and cook.
From: Laura Kaesshaefer | 4/18/12 at 12:49 pm
Dear Abbney,
These lanterns are not necessarily meant to be collapsed due to the amount of tissue circles added. It differs for each person and depends on the size of your lantern, however you should allow a few hours to make each to be safe.
Good luck!
Laura
From: Stephanie | 5/16/12 at 9:46 pm
I tried to make these using crepe paper instead of tissue paper (to match the paper flowers I was making) and it didn't work out so well. Also be careful of the size ratio between size of lantern and size of tissue circles, it makes a difference.
