It seems like everyone I know is having a baby this summer! I have three gifts to send off to happy new parents this week, so I thought it would be efficient to do some assembly-line-style card-making.

You will need a circle cutter, circle punches in 2-1/2",  3/4", and 1/4" diameters, scissors, double-sided tape, chalk, 6-1/2" square envelopes, and paper in the colors of your choice. I cut 12" by 12" heavyweight scrapbook paper in half, creating 6" by 12" strips—one of these will be the base of your card.

Using a circle cutter, make a 4-3/4" circle for the baby head, then out of the same paper, punch one 3/4" circle—this will be cut in half to make both ears.

Using a 2-1/2" circle punch, punch along the edge of a piece of paper, creating a semicircle, slightly less than half—this will be the mouth.

Punch another 3/4" circle for the hair.

Two 1/4" circles will be the eyes,

and a small white rectangle will be your baby's tooth.

All these shapes can be hand-cut, but if you choose to make multiples, using craft punches will save you time.

2 Fold a 6"-by-12" strip in half, creating a 6" square card. Cut one of your 3/4" circles in half, creating 2 baby ears. Back with double-sided tape, and tuck just under side of head.

3 Attach your mouth and eyes using double-sided tape or a glue pen.

4 Use scissors to trim one of your 3/4" circles into a curl, cutting wider as you get to the end.

5 Tuck the the wider end of the curl behind your baby's head, attaching with double-sided tape. Attach the tooth with double-sided tape or a glue pen.

6 Use chalk to give your baby rosy cheeks—blend with your finger or a cotton ball.
