What are the holidays without a little glitter? OK, seriously, it's usually a lot.
Since there is still plenty of time to get shiny for New Year's Eve, I wanted to share this great video made by the folks over at Etsy about the shiny stuff.
As Roger Ertle VP at Glittertex says during the video, "Glitter generally makes people happy. I mean just to look at it." Very True.
All That Glitters: The History of Shiny Things from Etsy on Vimeo.
And now that you know a bit more about the shiny stuff, why not get crafting? As I said there is still plenty of time, and there are millions of ideas out there! And if you are looking for a little glint of inspiration, check out these galleries:

Holiday Crafts
And that is just the beginning, search glitter and many pages of ideas come up!
Hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year. See you in 2012!

So interesting. I wasn't aware it was made from coated plastic. I just wish it was more readily available in large quantities in Australia.

I did as you suggested and glittered for New Year's Eve... I made use of the MS Crafts Multi-Surface Acrylic Glitter Paint in Antique Silver and made my toes sparkle!

This paint is wonderful; applying several thin layers and letting each dry fully before applying the next resulted in what looks and feels to be a very durable and beautiful surface... The glitter doesn't seem to flake off at all.
Happy New Year to the Crafts Dept.!
