On The Web : Valentine Candy Boxes

Posted by

I had so much fun making the heart-shaped boxes in February's issue of Living- and even more fun creating this iPad animation with the shoot team-

You can find the templates and how-to for these boxes online, the candy came from Candy Warehouse, the ribbon is from Mokuba, and the charms are made by Helen Ficalora. It will make a very sweet surprise for your loved one!

  • Wow, I love the animation, its so well done. The colors are well put together as well. Can I tell you how much you have tempted me to make one of these valentines boxes now?

  • Brilliant, will be making my version of this soon (the gift not the animation - I so couldn't do that!) well done!x

  • Beautiful. How was the video created? Did you use flash? I'm working on a project for school where animation like this would suit me perfectly!
    Thank you!

Thank you Lillian! This is a stop animation- created by a series of individual photographs with incrimental movements/changes frame by frame. We probably took about 60 photos, moving the box tops and candy a bit between each take. The final images can be strung together in most basic video editing programs like iMovie or Final Cut.

Hope this helps, and good luck on your project!
