Make It : Mother's Day Robin Card with Rosa Clifford
Posted by Hosanna Houser
Today the clever and meticulous card creator Rosa Clifford is sharing a darling card for Mother's Day. Having worked with Rosa on several occasions when she appeared on the TV show, I have a deep appreciation for the time, care and total consideration she gives to all her designs and her how-to photos do not disappoint! Take it away Rosa:
This Mother’s Day you can share an endearing and tender moment captured by the care illustrated by a mother Robin while feeding her young chick. I was impressed by this beautiful expression of the love and commitment associated with motherhood. I hope you enjoy making this colorful card and I’m confident that its recipient will love it, too!

1 Trace and cut out the shapes of the mother bird from template. Follow colors in photo for each section, and begin to assemble with glue stick.
2 Continue assembling mother bird, adding the details as above. Either punch the eye from card stock and glue or use a black marker.
3 Trace and cut out worm from template, and glue to mother bird’s beak.
4 Create baby bird from grey paper either from the template or a 5/8” circle punch, and follow images for assembly of beak and eye.
5 For Robin’s eggs, use balloon punch and trim off knot. Shade right side of egg with blue chalk. Crack one egg by cutting in half with a zigzag pattern.
6 To make the nest, use the deep edge punch, punching out strips in two shades of brown.
7 For background cut a mat 4 ¾” x 6 ¾” from the light blue card stock. Prior to adhering, arrange all of the strips being used to make nest.
8 On the bottom portion of the light blue mat, glue the dark brown branches. Then use the foam adhesive to layer the light brown branches on top.
9 Follow the images for arranging and layering the eggs, baby and mother. Use a glue stick and foam adhesive to add dimension to your card.
10 To complete card, use glue stick to adhere the completed mat to a folded piece of white card stock.
Here are some examples of Rosa's cards that she has ready for Mother's Day, but make sure to check out all her designs, you may find something for another holiday or special occasion.
Thank you Rosa for sharing a design with us!
