If you have the September issue of Living, you may have seen this project in our Good Things section-
We made a big statement with a cluster of fabric covered Art Boards- affordable art! Use a staple gun to attach fabric to the boards- after time you can switch out your patterns for a quick makeover. This is the perfect use for some of those very special scraps you've been saving, vintage finds, or even remnants of favorite clothing that has been worn beyond repair.
We shot two colorways, and the one we chose for the magazine (above) was actually our backup. This was the original one we thought we'd use-
After we were done with the shot, we took the Art Boards down and piled them on a table. I loved the way the overlapping patterns looked!
A side view of the stack is pretty fun too-
When mixing and matching fabrics it helps to choose swatches first- it will give you an idea of what goes well together before committing to yardage. We put together a list of our favorite online fabric sources at marthastewart.com- what are your favorite fabric sources- either online or brick & mortar?
