I've been seriously coveting some of the studded fashion that is out in the world these days. It seems like every article of clothing and accessory can be embellished- and from runway to DIY, everyone's doing it.
Check out our web-exclusive story on making studded accessories- easy, low-commitment projects that will compliment any outfit and make great handmade gifts. We start with a stud glossary, illustrating the different shapes available. All of ours came from M&J Trimming, and are also available in silver, black, and even some neons.
My favorite project was these studded cuffs- particularly the one on the far left, where a mix of studs are made into a random pattern.
Using the same technique as the cuffs above, make these embellished canvas bags. I love the contrast of the natural canvas with the shiny studs.
Another favorite is this studded barrette project- they couldn't be easier to make, and can add a surprising edgy accent to an elegant ensemble.
Find more simple stud-embellishing projects in our gallery. You can even use these accessories as a jumping-off point for a bigger project. A studded fashion search on Pinterest will provide you with a bounty of inspiration- from jackets, to shoes, fingernails, and even eyelashes??
