Around Town : City Bird, Detroit

Posted by

The final stop on our shops tour is Detroit, Michigan.  Emily Linn of City Bird is the author of our guest post today.  Emily and her brother Andy, lifelong, seventh generation Detroiters, founded City Bird in 2005.

We hope you enjoyed this peek at just a few of our favorite stores- please leave a comment to tell us about your favorite shops and sites!

We opened City Bird in 2009 and we carry our house lines of regional goods as well as work by more than 200 local and regional artists, designers and crafters.

We love paper goods and cards and our shop features a huge display of letterpress, silkscreened and illustrated greeting cards from artists and designers around the country.

In 2011, we opened a sister store, Nest, to complement City Bird.  Nest is right next door and we carry smaller housewares, gifts and provisions with a design focus.

Some of our most popular items at Nest are air plants and terrariums.  These glass air plant ornaments hang in our window.

  • What a wonderful store! Wish we have it in Spain :(

  • Another fun plant idea is to grow a pet TickleMe Plant from seeds and watch how the fern like leaves fold together like magic when you Tickle them. Such fun for all ages

  • Love City Bird! So happy to see it featured here.
