We're counting down the hours to American Made! Today we'd like to showcase the heart and soul of the event: the Honorees! Martha and the Editors here at Martha Stewart Living have chosen to honor 10 rising stars in the next generation of small business owners across the country. One additional Maker has been selected in our Audience Choice Award and will be honored at the event this week.
Brett Binford and Chris Lyons are the duo behind Mudshark Studios in Portland, Oregon. They manufacture ceramics for a range of businesses and are essentially the only subcontract ceramic manufacture in the United States. In the last six years, Mudshark Studios has grown from producing their work out of a garage to operating a 17,000 square foot facility. Read more about Mudshark Studios here.
Alisa Toninato is the artist behind FeLion Studios based in Madison, Wisconsin. Alisa makes functional iron products in her design studio, like these amazing "Made in America" skillets as well as other custom work. Alisa and her team build their own furnaces and melt down the iron used to make their products by hand. Click here to read more about Alisa and her inspiring small business.
You can learn more about all the Honorees here, and meet them tomorrow and Thursday in Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Station. If you can't make it to the event here in New York, be sure to check out the story on American Made in the November issue of Martha Stewart Living.
We hope to see you at American Made!
