Make It : Needle- Felted Ornaments

Posted by

Marcie made beautiful needle-felted ornaments which graced the tree in the "Into the Woods" story in the December issue of Living. Wouldn't these make for a beautiful gift? If you have access to or can purchase the supplies listed below, you can make multiple ornaments to give as gifts. They really added nice texture to the tree and feel so special due to the fact that they are hand-felted.

For this project, Marcie used a template to trace woodland creatures and shapes onto felt.  She then cut them out and embellished certain accents with roving (for example, the underbelly of the deer and mushroom tops above). To make the ornaments you will need our templates, wool felt, roving, felting needle foam and a few felting needles. The foam and the needles can be found at Colonial Needle.

The wool felt, which is $12 per sheet, is from a Child's Dream Come True. We got the Bhedawool roving (in colors Tomato, Snow and Military Green) from Purl Soho.
