Get The Technique
It is COLD outside. I'm talking long-johns-double-socks-and-multiple-sweaters cold. The icy winds are doing a number on my skin and the only saving grace is this body oil I received from a friend. Turns out, Meow Meow Tweet is a small-batch, handmade bodycare line owned and operated by two artists in their studio.
WHO: Jeff Kurosaki and Tara Pelletier
WHAT: A handmade bodycare line of vegan organic soaps, body oils, creams, balms and candles
WHERE: Brooklyn, New York, USA
WHEN: Established 2009
HOW: Tara writes, "We taught ourselves to make soap from a book, web research and a TON of trial and error."
WHY: After a group show the artists decided to change direction. Jeff explains, "We did a 180 from our interests in spectacle and play, and considered a more community based approach to our work. We thought soap would be an effective way to engage the public because of a common need and understanding for what it is.”
