A really cool pop-up shop opened in Midtown Manhattan last week, put on by the folks over at Duck Brand.

I went there expecting to be underwhelmed, but it was actually incredible. There were hundreds of styles - patterned, neon, and even several pretty shades of pastel colored tape. It's amazing what you can do with these rolls of incredibly strong tape: there were shoes made of duct tape, purses, even dresses (below) designed by contestants from the popular show Project Runway.

Sponge Bob duct tape. One of many wacky patterns (Hello Kitty, every professional sports team name it!)

My favorite part was that a significant portion of the proceeds was donated to the Autism Speaks "Light it Up Blue" campaign.

  • Today April 30th I heard Martha say she was making childrens dresses from vintage towels. I have searched her web site and can't find a referece to this. Can you advise me of a publication or other information regarding this subject?
    Thanks for your help. Nancy
