Inspiration Board : Embroidery revisited

Posted by

pillowsmRecently I have been doing quite a bit of cleaning and re-organizing at home.  In the process I came across a craft UFO (unfinished object).  I had originally started the project for my niece when she was born (she is 9 now).  Seeing the blanket  inspired a new baby gift I needed to make.  I  pulled out the artwork and re-formatted it into a more manageable pillow.

I traced the design using transfer paper in between the fabric and the art.   The linen was fairly textured, so I went over the lines with a disappearing ink fabric pen to make the design easier to see.

pillowdetailI used a  simple chain stitch for the majority of the design and short stitch for the facial features.  Once I got back into the swing of it - it went really quickly.  Check out our embroidery how-to for additional stitch tutorials and project inspiration.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who can leave a craft project unfinished for years and years... I think there are still a few from my teen years in my old bedroom at my childhood home, and I'm in my 40s now ;)

  • Marcie, your pillow is very cute! Do you know the name or art style of the little characters? They look like something from a child's book, but I can't remember where I've seen them before.
