In the June issue of Living, we featured clothing and textile designer Erica Tanov as our Tastemaker (page 44).
Erica introduced me to an unbelievable non profit based in Oakland, CA called Creative Growth. She attended an event there last year, sparking a collaboration with several of the artists on her freshly-launched line of home goods. Many of the patterns for pillows, napkins and bedding in the collection pull from patterns drawn or painted by Creative Growth artists.
Creative Growth is an art center which provides classes, workshops, gallery and studio space for adult artists with developmental, mental and physical disabilities. They have an exciting exhibition schedule and a program that pulls in renown visiting artists throughout the year. The work of the students is incredible, and the mission of the school inspiring: click here to look through portfolios of work.
